Cheri Sue Head

July 20, 1978 ~ July 5, 2023

Cheri Sue Head was born to Thomas Wayne Moore and Sila Sue (Rawson) Moore July 20, 1973, in Alma. She passed away July 5, 2023, at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 49 years, 11 months, and 16 days. She bravely fought pancreatic cancer for over a year. She was one of two children born in the family.

Cheri grew up in rural Bloomington. She was baptized and confirmed in the Franklin Congregational Church. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1991. While in high school, she was active in National Honor Society, band, volleyball, and three-year officer in FFA. She was also a class officer and enjoyed keeping in touch with several of her high school classmates. She attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agribusiness in 1995. During her time in college, Cheri met Casey Head of Geneva and they dated for a few years before marrying Aug. 13, 1999, in Las Vegas, NV. Two children were born to this union: Koby and Kaili Head. Cheri took everything she learned from growing up on the farm and applied it to her working career. She was a hard worker and held jobs at Famous Footwear, York State Bank, Land O’ Lakes and Kroy, before finding her calling and working in the cattle business for Jeff Biegert and the Biegert Group for the last 16 years of her life. Growing up in a livestock and farming family, it was rewarding for her to help Jeff Biegert work the cattle side of his operation.

Outside of work, Cheri had many interests and hobbies. She enjoyed assisting Schoenholz Auction Service, clerking for many auctions and, occasionally, bringing home treasures for her and Casey. She was also very active in the First Congregational United Church of Christ helping as a Sunday School teacher, church vocal music instructor, and playing in the Bell Choir. However, the most important thing to Cheri was her family. She was very proud of her kids for their accomplishments in FFA and showing pigs at the Fillmore County Fair. She devoted much time to FFA Boosters in planning, organizing and executing fundraisers, meals, and banquets. Cheri eagerly followed her kids’ sporting events and especially loved following Koby with golf and Kaili with softball. For the better part of the last 12 years of her life, Cheri assumed the role of ‘lead coordinator’ for the annual state basketball group trip to Lincoln each year where many laughs and memories were had with close family friends.

Cheri will be remembered for her kind and giving spirit and the smile that always graced her face.

She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Ray and Florence Worrell; grandparents, James Roy and Edna Moore and Emory and Betty Rawson; and father-inlaw, Dayle Gewecke.
