Stephen Peter Hansen, 68, passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at the Brodstone Healthcare Hospital in Superior.

A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the church, with Father Michael Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Ong Cemetery in Ong. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Condolences may be left at www.suttonmemorial.com. Stephen was born May 1, 1955, in Hastings to Carl F. and Eulalia E. (Leininger) Hansen. He attended Lakeside Country School and graduated from Sutton High School in 1973. He continued his education in Utah graduating in 1980 with a B.A. in political science. Stephen had two children, George, born in 1980; and Oliva, born in 1994.

Stephen was an avid reader and loved snow skiing. He is survived by his brothers, Dennis and Paula of Ong; Greg and Linda of Sutton; and David of Edgar; sister, Eileen of Lincoln; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Eulalia; brother, Nicholas; and nephew, Matthew.
