Sutton resident Dennis “Buck” Arthur Sedersten, 71, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at York General Hospital in York.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at the Federated Church in Sutton, with Pastor Mary Scott officiating. Interment followed at the Saronville United Methodist Cemetery in Saronville.

Dennis was born to Deldon and Jean (Stonehocker) Sedersten April 28, 1952, in rural Clay County on the farm. After his mom’s death, he was raised by his stepmother Marge. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1971. He married Lori Detwiler on Dec. 18, 1982. Buck was employed as an elevator operator for over 40 years in Saronville, Bixby, and Sutton. After retiring from CPI, he began working for Van Kirk Brothers and was still a part time employee with them.

He enjoyed time with family and friends, especially being the grill master at barbeques. He liked his weekend getaways going camping and fishing. Oftentimes his best friend, Marty, would join him and Lori at the lake. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler who mastered the skill of bowling strikes between his legs. He would challenge anyone to a headstand competition. More recently, he looked forward to ending his day surrounded by friends at the round table.

Buck is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lori Sedersten of Sutton; sons, John Sedersten; Gabe (Anna) Sedersten of Sutton; daughters, Kylie (Lyn Collins) Sedersten of Sutton; and Monica (Richard) Holdsworth of Hastings; ten grandchildren, Riley Lewis, Rachel Dawson, Keiji (Kiarra) Collins, Kaylee Sedersten, Laekyn Collins, Tayler Holdsworth, Alexis Holdsworth, Victoria Sedersten, Elizabeth Sedersten, and Sofia Sedersten; two great-grandchildren, Todd and Theodore; brothers, Marland (Mary) Sedersten of Sutton; Paul (Kris) Sedersten of Harvard; and sister, Ellen (Marv Wilson Jr.) Sedersten of Honey Creek , IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Deldon and Jean; stepmother, Marge Sedersten; brother, Mike Sedersten; father and mother-in-law, Donald and Helen Detwiler; stepsiblings, Norma (Harold) Carlson, Janet Gaski, and Joyce Sedersten.
