Black Hills Corp. Plans to Acquire SourceGas; Could Come in Early 2016

In a deal announced on Sunday, July 12, Black Hills Corp., a company based out of Rapid City, South Dakota, has agreed to acquire  SourceGas Holding LLC for an estimated $1.89 billion. The deal, if approved by regulatory commissions on the federal level, as well as, in the four states that SourceGas serves, Nebraska, Wyoming, Colorado and Arkansas, could take place in early 2016. The deal would add significant growth to Black Hills Corp., as  SourceGas, based out of Golden, Colorado, currently serves 425,000 customers in Nebraska, Colorado, Arkansas and Wyoming. The sale approval would give Black Hills Corp. more than 1.2 million natural gas and electric customers in nearly 800 commmunities in eight states.

Henderson Clinic Due to Open Early October

The $2 million construction of the Henderson Health Care Clinic in Sutton is moving right along and on schedule, Chief Executive Officer of Henderson Health Care Cheryl Brown said. According to Brown, the clinic is expected to open Oct. 15, following the completion of construction.

Construction on Sutton Public School Bus Barn Almost Complete

On July 24, 2014, a fire claimed the Sutton Public School’s bus barn and two buses—a 1999 and the school’s second-newest (at the time), a 2010. The bus barn was built around 1994. At the time, the building was in the school’s three-year plan for updates and repairs, but since the fire, those plans were moved to the front line.

County Board Hears Preliminary Budgets, Discusses Concrete Project

Gary Flesner with F&F Construction gave square feet pricing to the county board during their meeting on Tuesday, July 14, for concrete and sidewalk finishing around the courthouse. Flesner said the total cost of the project would be determined by how much square feet of concrete is done. He gave the board three options including replacing the concrete, with a refinishing to the top of it; color stone with a stencil design; or having a broom coat finish without stenciling.

Clay Center Named Best Host Community by BRAN Ride Participants

The community of Clay Center received rave reviews from riders that took part in the 35th Annual Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) June 7-13. Of the seven communities that hosted an overnight stay for the riders, Clay Center was selected by the majority of riders as the best stay over spot along the southern route that was chosen this year.
