Tammy Robin Hohensee

Sutton resident Tammy Robin Hohensee, 49, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, following heart surgery due to complications of Williams Syndrome.

Memorial services were conducted at 11 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, at the Stockham Community Church in Stockham, with Rev. Paul Nauman and Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. A luncheon immediately followed the service at the Church. Inurnment was at 3 p.m., Monday, at the Sutton Cemetery. A book signing was Sunday from 1–5 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. In honoring her wish to be cremated there was no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.

Shirley Faye Woodward

Shirley Faye Woodward, 89, of Harvard, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora.

Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2019, , at the Harvard United Church of Christ, with Pastor Dave Johnson officiating. Burial was at First Evangelical Cemetery northwest of Harvard. Visitation was Sunday May 5, from 2-6 p.m., with family greeting friends from 2-4 p.m., at the church.

Memorials may be given to the Harvard United Church of Christ. Condolences may be sent to the family from www.apfelfuneralhome.com.

Shirley was born August 22, 1929, at the family farm near Harvard, to Elmer and Faye (Miller) Bieck. She had an older brother, Orville and a younger sister, Dorothy. She graduated from Harvard High School in 1947.

She was married on Feb. 2, 1948, to Chester J. Woodward at the family farm North of Harvard. To this union four children were born Charlotte, Duane, Bonnie and Connie.

Roger D. Bauer

Lincoln resident Roger D. Bauer, 92, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at The Windcrest on Van Dorn in Lincoln.

Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, with Rev. Mary Scott officiating. Military honors were provided by the American Legion Argonne Post #61 of Sutton. Visitation was Monday, from 1–8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 6–8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo or the Federated Church in Sutton.

Lois J. Saathoff

Lois J. Saathoff, the daughter of Fredrick M. and Minnie (Helwig) Sigman, was born Aug. 4, 1928, on their farm home north of Edgar. She died April 14 , 2019, at Westfield Quality Care Center in Aurora, at the age of 90 years.

On Sept. 28, 1947, she was united in marriage to Carl B. Saathoff at the Methodist Church in Edgar. The union was blessed with the birth of four children, two sons and two daughters.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Edgar and then a charter member of The Church of the Plains. She fully participated in the life of the church by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, served as an officer for Presbyterian Women locally and on Presbytery as Moderator, served as an Elder on the Session, was a mentor to many on their faith journeys.

Aileen A. Grummert

Aileen A Grummert, the daughter of William and Lola Ferguson, was born on August 24, 1934, in Oak. She passed away on April 4, 2019, at the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital at Hastings, at the age of 84 years, seven months, 11 days.

Aileen grew up in Oak, graduating from Nelson High School. She married Milvern Grummert on July 16, 1952. In this union, they raised two children, Michael and Julie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Milvern “Mike” on Jan. 16, 2017; grandson, Jonathan Grummert and great-grandson, Hayden Reiman.

Sutton resident Arlene E. Hanthorn, 96, passed away Thursday, April 11, 2019, at the Henderson Community Hospital in Henderson.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at the Stockham Community Church in Stockham, with Pastor Paul Nauman officiating. Graveside services was conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton. Visitation was Monday, from 1–8 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Sutton Community Home Building Fund for new construction.

Dorothy L. Yaeger

Dorothy L. Yaeger passed away peacefully on Monday, April 8, 2019, at Heritage Crossings nursing home in Geneva, after a long struggle with Alzheimers. She was 100 years old.

Dorothy LaVeta Rolfes was born to Frank H. and Dora E. (Keller) Rolfes on May 15, 1918. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Helena’s Catholic Church in Grafton. She attended the Grafton Public School, graduating in the Class of 1935, and then attended the University of Nebraska for two years.

She worked for the Prudential Insurance Company in Omaha for four years, then moved to Washington, D.C. and worked in the Pentagon for the Department of the Navy. She took a leave of absence in August 1945 and on the way back to Nebraska by train, peace was declared. She then moved to California in 1946 and worked for Gardner-Denver Company and the Pneumatic Machinery Company.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton with Rev. Scott Henry officiating. Interment followed at the Sutton Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, from 1–8 p.m., with the family greeting friends from 5–7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.
