For the second straight year, the Clay County News was third overall in the annual Loral Johnson Sweepstakes competition during the 141st annual Nebraska Press Association’s convention held this year at the Downtown Holiday Inn and Convention Center in Lincoln. Earning 21 total awards within the 2014 Better Newspaper Contest, CCN finished in second place for the Class B Sweepstakes award. This marks the third straight year that the paper has finished in the top two in its class, after winning  lass B for their work in 2012 and 2013. This year’s runner-up finish for the Clay County News, behind the Grant Tribune-Sentinel, was judged by the Arizona Press Association.
