Kay E. Monson, 59, of Lincoln, died peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ms. Monson was born Aug. 18, 1955, to Marlow and Gertrude (Scheierman) Monson in Henderson, NE. Kay worked in various capacities for Lincoln Public Schools as a Speech Pathologist, Reading Recovery Specialist and Gifted Program Facilitor. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kay is survived by her sisters, Carol (Jim) Isaac, JoAnn (William) Kathrein, Allen Monson (Dianne Mitchell); many nieces, nephews and close friends. A Celebration of Kay’s Life was held at 2 p.m., on Saturday, April 25, 2015, at the Spring Creek Prairie Audubon, 11700 SW 100th St, Denton, NE 68339. Inurnment followed in the Sutton Cemetery at approximately 4:30 p.m. The family will greeted friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials are suggested to the Lincoln Community Crops Program and Sutton Memorial Library. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln 68510.
