For the first time in decades, the Sutton Mustangs’ home turf wasn’t in south Sutton. Instead, the Mustangs took the field just outside the doors of Sutton High School, unveiling their new home stadium as they took to the field against Wood River in the 2015 season opener for both teams. The field and stadium, a work in progress for nearly two years now, welcomed a throng of fans for both the Mustangs and Eagles. By night’s end, Sutton fans would see their Mustangs throttle the Eagles 50-0 to kick off the new season and, more importantly, a new era of Mustang football with the huge win.
