The Sutton Volunteer Fire Department has gained a huge boost in its constant efforts to keep Sutton residents and businesses safer, with the addition of three fire protection trucks, thanks in large part, to a program in Nebraska through the Nebraska Forest Service (NFS), in conjunction with the United States Forestry Service. New to the fleet of fire fighting equipment for the department includes a 1988 50-foot Tele-Squirt Ladder and Pumper truck that sits on a Pierce-Arrow chassis. Additionally, two tanker trucks have been added the SVFD line of equipment, including a 1988 P-18 Military Tanker that has a 2,000 gallon tank, as well as a 2005 Stuart-Stevens Tanker that holds up to 1,200 gallons of water.
