Robert "Bob" Willis Swanson of Edgar, NE, the son of Tage T. and Elva (Gowen) Swanson was born Aug. 8, 1926, at Ong, NE. He passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Mary Lanning Hospital in Hastings, NE, at the age of 89 years. Bob graduated from Ong High School. In 1955, Bob was united in marriage to Edythe A. Cramer. In 1990, Bob married Jean (Jacobs) Shaw. In 1955, Bob and Edythe lived in Colorado until 1964. He was a heavy equipment operator in the 1960s. In 1964, Bob moved to Auburn, CA, and 1975, he moved to Paradise Valley, AZ, until 2006. Bob moved to Edgar in 2006, and made Edgar his home until the time of his death. Bob had been a member of the Operating Engineers Local #3. During the 1970s, Bob worked on the Alaska pipeline and when he lived in Arizona, Bob was a member of the Operating Engineers local 428 from 1975 until his retirement in the mid 1980s. Bob had always been very active. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing golf and hunting almost anything that flew. His real passion was trap shooting, which he enjoyed from the late 1960s until he was well into his 80s. Bob was always busy either shooting or preparing for his next shoot. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Marlyn Swanson; Meredith Swanson; Jack Swanson; and Oran (Jim) Swanson; sisters; Grace Jordan; Nellie Bottom; Irene White; Edythe Johnson; Judith McPeck; and Bob's twin sister, Rita Eliason. Among his survivors are his son, Scott Swanson of Auburn, CA; wife, Jean Swanson of Edgar, NE; sisters, Norma Fryer and Ora (Nonnie) Olson; step-children, Deanna Schnieder of Imperial, NE; Deborah Schmer of Sutton, NE; Robert Shaw of Lincoln, NE; and Dick Shaw of Edgar, NE; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 18 step-grandchildren, 29 step-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial services will be held Saturday, 10:30 a.m., June 18, 2016, at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Edgar, NE. Pastor Kathyrn Bates will be officiating.
