McElfresh, Middle Name is M win division titles

The tradition of 15 years of co-ed softball continued this weekend, as nine teams invaded Sutton’s DLD Park, marking the second year of tournament action at Sutton’s new softball and baseball complex.

The Travis Carpenter Memorial tournament is hosted in memory of Carpenter, who lost his life in an automobile accident.

Proceeds from the tournament go toward supporting local organizations, as well as, awarding a $500 annual scholarship to a local senior in memory of Carpenter.

This year, Team McElfresh, headed up by Sutton graduate Matt McElfresh went undefeated through the two-day event to win Division- A of the tournament, beating runner-up Team Rapp, headed up by Josh and Jamie Rapp, of Sutton. Team McElfresh edged Team Rapp 12-7 in the championship game Sunday afternoon.
