Heavy rains dowse Clay County area over weekend

Heavy rains last Thursday and Friday in southern Adams County and Clay County caused a little grief for rural residents near Deweese this past weekend, as the Little Blue River just northwest of Deweese came out of its banks at roads 302 and H. Much of Clay County as a whole received yet another Memorial Day weekend deluge of rainfall, with much of the county exceeding two and a half inches of rain, with several locations in and around Fairfield, Deweese, Clay Center, Harvard and Sutton exceeding three inches. Reports from the website NERain.com shared that areas in and around Edgar approached the three-inch mark as of noon on Memorial Day. An area nearly three miles northeast of Fairfield, according to the website, came one-tenth of an inch short of hitting the four-inch mark. TORY DUNCAN | CLAY COUNTY NEWS
