This group of seniors helped the Sutton Mustangs gain their 12th straight Class C-2 state playoff bid with a 43-18 win at Doniphan-Trumbull Friday in Doniphan. Ty Skalka (61) snaps the ball to running back Matthew Davis (18) as Sutton corralled the Cardinals with a heavy dose of power running football. Paxton Olson (28) and Jesse Herndon (23) combined with Davis to gain 402 of Sutton’s 405 rushing yards in the 25 point win, improving the Mustangs to 6-3 on the year. TORY DUNCAN | CLAY COUNTY NEWS

Senior running back Matthew Davis tore up the Doniphan-Trumbull defense to the tune of 220 rushing yards on 20 carries, an average of 11 yards per carry. Senior Paxton Olson has toren up nearly every team he’s faced on the field. Friday night at Doniphan, Olson gained 165 yards on 28 carries in the 43-18 win over Doniphan-Trumbull. On the year, Olson has had seven games where he has rushed for over 150 yards to total 1,584 yards on 217 carries on the year, as he carries a 7.3 yard per carry average and an average of 176 yards per game.
