Fillies advance to state

Junior Alivia Huxoll helped the Sutton Fillies advance to the state volleyball tournament this week with a team-high 12 kills in Sutton’s 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 win over Palmyra in the C2-5 District Final Saturday night in Sutton. In the match, Huxoll also tied a school record for kills in a season with 298. The record has been held since 2005 by Elizabeth Van Kirk. The Fillies and their fans unleashed a fury of excitement Saturday night after the Sutton girls punched their ticket to the 2021 state volleyball championships with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 win over the Palmyra Panthers. Sutton is slated to play Clarkson/Leigh in the first round of the C-2 state tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, on the south court at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
