Fillies advance to state

Junior Alivia Huxoll helped the Sutton Fillies advance to the state volleyball tournament this week with a team-high 12 kills in Sutton’s 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 win over Palmyra in the C2-5 District Final Saturday night in Sutton. In the match, Huxoll also tied a school record for kills in a season with 298. The record has been held since 2005 by Elizabeth Van Kirk. Looking on for the Fillies during the play is Kate Griess, left, and Reagan Vavricek between Huxoll and Palmyra blocker Kamrin Lippold (15). The Fillies and their fans unleashed a fury of excitement Saturday night after the Sutton girls punched their ticket to the 2021 state volleyball championships with a 25-15, 25-16, 25-18 win over the Palmyra Panthers. Sutton is slated to play Clarkson/Leigh in the first round of the C-2 state tournament at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, on the south court at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln.
