Rempe dropped a 12-7 decision to the Logan View senior, before rebounding for a 3:48 pinfall win over Superior’s Holden McDonald in a first round consolation match.

Valentine would escape with a narrow 7-5 win over Jarosik to oust the Sandy Creek grappler from the tournament, ending his season with a 39-10 record.

Poppe scored a 14-7 win over Patterson to advance to the quarterfinals. The Mustang freshman would go 2-2 in his first trip to Omaha and finish the year with a 28-15 record, missing medal contention by just one match.

TORY DUNCAN | CLAY COUNTY NEWS Harvard senior Maria Perez ties for a takedown against Angelica Velasquez in a first-round consolation match Friday, Feb. 17, at the CHI Center in Omaha during the 2023 Nebraska high school wrestling championships. Perez fell by a 10-6 score to fall out of the tournament with the loss, finishing the year at 20-14.
