RAMONA P. NUSS

Ramona Pauline (Rauscher) Nuss passed away on Sept. 25, 2015, in Lincoln, NE. She was born to Henry and Pauline Rauscher June 25, 1921, in Sutton, NE. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Nuss Jr., her parents, brothers, Jerry and Tom, sisters, Ruth Haberman and Verneta Hohnstein. Ramona is survived by one brother, Robert (Bob) and Barbara Rauscher of Oregon; one son, Stephen Nuss of Texas; and daughters, Ann and Bob Wathor of Wymore, Linda and Dale Thomas of Lincoln; and Catlin Brown of Beatrice; eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She will be missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Oct. 10, at 10 a.m., at the Tabitha Chapel in Lincoln, NE.

PATRICK J. VOORHEES

Patrick James Voorhees, the son of James (JP) Voorhees and Jody (Shaw) Hancock, was born July 13, 1992, at Aurora, NE. He departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, as a result of an automobile accident in Hastings, NE, at the age of 23 years. Patrick enjoyed his sports, especially Kansas City Royals baseball. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was being at the river or sitting around a fire, as long as he was with family and friends,he was happy. Anybody who met Patrick was instantly drawn to him. He made friends easily (Very outgoing). Patrick was always the life of the party. He lit up a room with his smile and his eyes. He will be greatly missed and always loved. Always missed, never forgotten. Patrick was preceded in death by great-grandfather, Ward L. Shaw; grandfather, James H. Voorhees and grandmother, Kathleen S Roth.

MARY L. MCNEILL

Mary L. McNeill, age 66, of York, NE ,died Friday, September 4, 2015, in Lincoln, NE. She was born August 29, 1949, in North Platte, NE, to Robert and Wilma (Shavlik) Hoagland. Mary was co-owner of McNeill Floral in York and was also a longtime employee of Sapp Bros. in York as well. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in York, Delta Kappa Gamma, loved to bake kolaches and was once an avid golfer. She loved animals, especially horses and was a member of the Nebraska Horse Club and a fierce Husker football fan. Mary graduated from Ainsworth High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Wayne State College in Physical Education and a Master’s Degree from the University of Northern Colorado. On June 2, 1974, she was married to Dale McNeill in Ainsworth, NE. She is survived by her husband, Dale; daughter, Molly McNeill; and grandson, Cooper McNeill; all of York.

Funeral services  were 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at the United Church of Christ in Clay Center, NE, with Rev. Harry Cross officiating. Interment will follow at the Clay Center Cemetery with military honors by the American Legion Mills- Schroder Post #87, Clay

Lincoln, NE, resident James A. Hust, 70, passed away in his home on August 13, 2015, surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Sutton, NE, to Rufus E. and Dorothy L. (Wedeking) Hust on July 19, 1945. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1963 and attended the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. On May 27, 1967, he was united in marriage to Patricia Marie Dvorak in Lincoln, NE. Two daughters were born of this union: Teresa Jo and Jennifer Lynne. The family moved several times: Grand Island, NE; Marion, IA; DeWitt, IA; and Brainard, NE; before moving back to Sutton in 1983, to raise their children in Jim's hometown. He was actively involved in coaching youth basketball, assisting with  -H horse projects and was on the Sutton school board for many years. Jim and Patti moved to Lincoln in 1992, where he became an active member of Cathedral of the Risen Christ parish, serving as  Acolyte, Extraordinary Minister, Light of the World Community, and the Knights of Columbus.

Clay Center resident Allen Pomeroy Wilkins, 88, passed away at his home in Clay Center, NE, on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015. Funeral services were 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, at the Clay Center Christian Church, with Pastor Kevin Whitmore officiating . Interment followed at the Clay Center Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.mclaughlinchapel.com Allen was born on Jan.18, 1927, in Madison, NE, to Wesley Forsythe and Julia Constance (Pomeroy) Wilkins, being the fourth of five children. He graduated from Fairfield Public Schools with the class of 1944. Allen served in the United States Navy as a water purification specialist on the USS Jacquard.
