Boardman Elected President of National Agricultural Aviation Assoc.

ALEXANDRIA, VA–The National Agricultural Aviation Association (NAAA) is pleased to announce that Rick Boardman of Henderson, NE, has been elected President of NAAA for 2015. Boardman is the operator of Boardman Aerial Spraying Inc., a flying service his father owned when he was growing up. With his father as his mentor, he started making applications by air in 1984, and six years later, he and his brother purchased the business. In 2010, Boardman sold the company to Aurora Coperative and now operates the business for them. He and his three pilots fly Air Tractor and Thrush planes and treat mostly corn, soybeans, pastures and seed corn.

US Department of Ag Finalizes Procedures For Sorghum Referendum

(Clay Center, NE), March 23, 2015 –The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is announcing procedures for the upcoming referendum regarding the continuation of the Sorghum Checkoff Program and is announcing the dates it will conduct the referendum. The Sorghum Promotion, Research, and Information Order requires that a referendum be conducted no later than seven years after the start of assessments, which began on July 1, 2008. For the program to continue, a majority of those voting must favor the continuation of the order.

Farmers Learn Valuable Software

Farmers were able to work with the software SMS Advanced during a hands-on workshop recently. The Precision Ag Data  Management Workshop is designed to demonstrate methods  of extracting more information from a farmers precision ag data.  Using the software, farmersare able to conduct multi-yield  data normalization analysis;analyze yield monitor data; read  variable rate nutrients and soiltypes; and develop prescription maps for various crop inputs,  while also looking at corn and  soybean populations .
