USDA Releases Updated Crop Report, Insurance Prices

Based on Nov. 1 conditions, Nebraska’s 2014 corn crop is forecast at 1.58 billion bushels, down 2% from last year’s record high, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service. Acreage harvested for grain is estimated at 8.75 million acres, down 8% from a year ago. Average yield is forecast at a record high 181 bushels per acre, up 11 bushels per acre from a year ago.

A busy summer show season for Adilynn Friesen, an 8th grader at Sutton High School and daughter of Jason and Crystal Friesen, and her horse, My Gold Deck, has led into a busy fall for the extremely talented team.

Erika Harms, of rural Glenvil and Colton Kleinschmidt, of rural Sutton, both gained high honors during the 2014 87th Annual Ak-Sar-Ben Youth 4-  Stock Show held Sept. 25-28 in Omaha.
