It’s Spring Storm Season...

The first real taste of the spring storm season touched much of Clay County early Sunday evening, when anywhere from a half to over an inch of rain fell in parts of the county. Storm clouds, like those above, remind us that it is the season for spring storms to pop up out of the blue.

Sutton Council Approves Plat, Special Exception Use Permit

Members of the Sutton City Council, on Monday night, approved the Plat for the West Addition, better known as the Baseball/Softball Complex that is currently under construction, as well as a special exception use permit for Mike Ford, owner of Abat Lerew Construction. In both cases, Sutton’s Planning and Zoning Board approved the Plat and Ford’s permit,forwarding them on to the council for final approval during their monthly meeting held Monday night. The acceptance by the council of the West Addition Plat allows future construction to take place in the area just east of the new ball complex. It also makes it possible for upgrades to the waterand sewer to take place, if the Sutton Council should accept bids during a special meeting held next Monday, April 20. The meeting will be held in the council chambers at 7 p.m.

Fuehrer Free on Bail, Hearing set for April 22

Ervin C. Fuehrer was released from Fillmore County jail on April 1, after being arrested March 19, for shooting his brother, Stephen Preslicka. Fuehrer, 60, and his brother, both of Grafton, met at Fuehrer’s garage in Grafton on Thursday, March 19, to look at some metal work.

Edgar Volunteer Fire, Rescue Hosts Annual Awards Banquet

On Saturday, the men and women of the Edgar Fire and Rescue were honored for their hard work and dedication. After a meal catered by Bubba’s Anytime in Strang, Mayor Brad Brennfoerder welcomed everyone. Joe Mcreynolds was the guest speaker, and offered a bit of humor through numerous newspaper printings throughout the world. After a moment of silence for fallen fire fighters and Alan Watson, the awards were presented.
