Oscar Medina wraps up Shelton’s Sam Tourney during Medina’s 6-5 win over Tourney at the Harvard Invitational, hosted Friday, Dec.

21. Medina finished second in the 113-pound class.

Mother Nature didn’t kickoff the 2018-19 wrestling season on a good note, forcing the postponement of the traditional season opener for all three Clay County Schools. Despite the weather-related decision, the Harvard Invite was moved to Friday, Dec. 21, in which only two of the three Clay County Schools could take part, as the Sutton Mustangs, who were hosting the Sutton Duals on the same day, had to bow out of the tournament, leaving the Harvard Cardinals and South Central Red Raiders in the reslated meet that hosted 13 schools.

For the host Cardinals, three would medal in the meet, as the Cardinals placed ninth overall with 41 team points.

Shelton outscored the Red Raiders 121-99 for the top two team spots at days end.

Dalton Hansen and Oscar Medina led the Cardinals with a pair of runner-up finishes, while Cesar Ramirez claimed fourth place.
