With 67 percent of Edgar’s houses being built prior to 1960 and another 55 percent built before 1939, after almost 80 years, many of the houses have begun to falter, deteriorate and crumble. Following a Blight and Substandard Study conducted by South Central Economic Development District of Holdrege, it was found that in the north section of Edgar, “a total of 24 severely deteriorated/dilapidated and/or inhabitable” structures were found, 12 of which were vacant or appeared uninhabitable.
