Lemkau is State Runner- Up in Class C Long Jump

Senior Delaney Lemkau closed out her high school career with a bang this past Friday and Saturday, bringing home two medals from the 2015 Nebraska State High School Track and Field Championships in Omaha. Lemkau opened action in Omaha with a state runner-up performance in the long jump, placing second behind Twin River jumper Sara Czarnick.

Sandy Creek senior Brendan Lipovsky fought off some early worries after fouling on his first two attempts in the triple jump. He posted a huge 45’ 9” leap win the 2015 Class C state triple jump gold medal during action at the Nebraska State Track and Field Championships. ‘Veterans cannot suspend death’

One of The American Legion’s more recent victories helped restore the burial of veterans in one of our nation’s overseas cemeteries located on what used to be Clark Air Base in the Philippines. It is the final resting place for more than 8,600 U.S. veterans and dependents, including Philippine Scouts, who fought for the U. S. Army when the country was still an American territory.

Congress Should Require the Postal Service to Report on Quality of Rural Mail Service

WASHINGTON—The National Newspaper Association has again called for measurement of on-time delivery of rural mail. Appearing in a May 19 roundtable hosted by the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, NNA Chief Executive Officer and General Counsel Tonda F. Rush said Congress should follow the maxim that “what gets measured gets done.”

C2-2 District Final: Sutton Fillies (21-4) vs. Nebraska Christian (19-5)

Tonight’s (Friday, Feb. 27) C2-2 District Final between the Sutton Fillies and the Nebraska Christian Eagles will pit two teams that come in with strong records and looking to make a trip to Lincoln next weekend for the 2015 Nebraska High School Girls State Basketball Championships.
As the Fillies and Eagles hit the court at Aurora High School for the 7 p.m. tip, Sutton, ranked sixth in the most recent Class C-2 state polls, comes in having won 18 of their last 20 games with losses coming to Class C-2 fourth ranked Freeman (24-2) and Class B fifth ranked (York 20-4).
The Fillies rolled through the C2-3 Sub-District, trouncing two Southern Nebraska Conference opponents in the process, Tri County in the first round, 59-22, and Fillmore Central in the C2-3 final, Thursday, Feb. 19, 61-24.

Johnson Shatters Record Book

Sutton senior Noah Johnson, behind a total of 2,892 yards, led all of Nebraska in rushing and finished his career 11th on the national charts. He broke one state record in Class C-2 and set a total of 11 school records, helping the Mustangs to a 9-1 record and a final ranking of sixth in Class C-2. -CCN File
