The most students AWBA has ever hosted filtered into the Allegro Wolf Arts Center Sunday, to meet directors and staff and greet their host families for the week.

Thirty-nine students—coming from Clay County, Aurora, York, Iowa, and Colorado, to name a few places—along with 13 directors and mentors, rehearsed for hours on end, enjoyed group times with their mentors, and grew friendships, all-the-while preparing for the main event at the end of the week—the student showcase and the staff’s dinner theatre.

In process of bettering oneself

Article Image Alt Text

Typically the beginning and middle of June is fairly easy-going. And then Dugout Days and EdgarFest weekend roll around, and then it’s Clay Center’s Fourth of July Celebration, and then the fair, and Harvard’s Veterans Car Show, and Fairfield’s Triple F Fest, and then BOOM...school starts.

You know how I mentioned that this year was going to be the best year yet and it didn’t get a choice? Well....so far, since turning 27, it’s been extra stressful and busier than usual.

I’m not sure if this is just an added “bonus” to getting older, or if God’s up there testing me every day to see how tough I am. Either way, it’s been a trying couple of months.
