Genevieve Benlien Nov. 24, 1953 - April 18, 2017

Genevieve M. (Jenny) Benlien of Clay Center, NE, passed from her earthly life into the arms of her Lord, Jesus Christ, at 3:40 a.m., April 18, 2017, at Bryan-West Hospital, Lincoln, NE, due to complications of breast cancer. Jenny was born November 24, 1953, in Norton, KS, to Arthur and Vivian Benlien (Sperry). She was raised in Kansas and Nebraska, calling Nebraska home for the majority of her life. She married Thomas D. Wilson of Harvard, NE, May 26, 1973. Jenny was always her family’s greatest champion. She not only raised her own children, but four of her grandchildren, as well. She had a great love for them all and her love and influence will always be present in their lives and hearts. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her grandmother Kitty Hartzog, and beloved brother-in-law, David Altman.

Former Sutton, NE resident, Philip Martin Lewis Jr., “Marty,” passed away Friday, April 21, 2017, in Lincoln, NE, at the age of 86. Military graveside services were held at 12:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, NE, with Pastor Mary Scott officiating and military honors by the American Legion Argonne Post #61. Visitation was Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 1-8 p.m., and Wednesday, April 26, 2017, with the family present from 11 a.m. until noon at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE. A reception luncheon was served immediately following the graveside service at the American Legion. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church in Sutton, NE, American Legion Argonne Post #61, Sutton NE, Grand Lodge at the Preserve Scholarship Fund, Lincoln, NE, or donor’s choice. James H. Bauer

Feb. 5, 1927 - March 28, 2017

James Henry Bauer, 87, of Hebron, NE, the son of Alexander and Susanna (Krass) Bauer was born Feb.5, 1930, in Friend NE. He departed this life Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at his residence in Hebron, NE.

Jim grew up in the Sutton area and graduated from Sutton High School with the class of 1947. After graduation, he started his career with Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company (LT&T) in Hastings, NE, then transferred to Superior, NE, where he met his wife. In 1976, the couple moved to Hebron, where he was manager of LT&T. He worked for LT&T for 44 years, retiring in January of 1992.

Jim married Shirley Nadeen Messersmith April 15, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Superior. This union was blessed with the birth of one son, Gregory. Jim and Nadeen would have been married 66 years in April.

Grafton resident, Kay Howard Kleinschmidt, 82, passed away Friday, March 31, 2017, in Surprise, AZ.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, April 7, 2017, at the Federated Church in Sutton, NE, with Pastor Mary Scott officiating. Burial will follow at the Grafton Cemetery in Grafton, NE. Visitation will be Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 1-8 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton, NE.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Grafton Volunteer Fire Department in Grafton, NE, or the Federated Church in Sutton, NE.
