Jacobson currently resides in Clay Center with her two children, Taylee and Camden. She grew up in Savannah, MO, and Holdredge; she graduated from Central High School in Grand Junction, CO.

A two-car accident resulted in four people being transfered to Mary Lanning Healthcare for treatment, Clay County Sergent Dustin Cullen said.

The out-of-state driver was heading south on Highway 14 and drove through the stop sign, colliding with an east bound vehicle around 2:15 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15.

Members of the Sutton City Council voted to approve the 2017 Comprehensive Plan during its monthly meeting, Monday, Oct. 9 in the council chambers.

The plan, which was approved by a unanimous vote from the four council members, replaces the former plan, which was adopted in 2004. With the passage of ordinance 376, the City of Sutton will be able to accommodate anticipated long-range growth in areas of residential, economic and business growth, by using the new development plan as a guide for the city and community moving forward.

Eleven seconds.

Eleven seconds of cement dust, of tremendous sound, of pure adrenaline-laced fear.

On Sept. 11, 2001, the foundation for many New Yorkers trembled and was destroyed as two planes slammed into the Twin Towers.

Thousands of first responders sped to Ground Zero, one of which was Tim Duffy. On that fateful day, Duffy, a New York Firefighter, was at home on Staten Island, not scheduled to work, when he heard the first boom of the plane hitting the tower.

He heard the sirens, first only a few seconds and then long, drawn out sirens came.

The process of building anything new has its road blocks, but in the case of the Sutton Community Home, the need is becoming more and more apparent that a new care facility for Sutton and the surrounding area is greatly needed.

As one staff member put it, “How do you put a price tag on resident healthcare and well-being?”

“This is one of the oldest facilities in the area and it just doesn’t promote the staff to provide the best care possible because of tight working conditions, not to mention, repairs that constantly take place with the aging facility.” 

Over the course of the past five years, the Sutton Community Home has had to dole out more than $115,000 on repairs alone.

Educators, administrators, parents and students alike, may see a dip in some areas of the NeSA Testing scores when those scores are released in the near future.

Jeremy Heneger, an assistant director of statewide assessment for the Nebraska Department of Education, shared that the anticipated drop is in no way associated with administrators or educators not doing their jobs.

In order to promote positive leadership in the Southern Nebraska Conference events, students from all 11 conference schools met in McCool Junction for the ninth Southern Nebraska Conference Sportsmanship Summit Wednesday, Sept. 20.

Sutton’s Secondary Principal Brandy Thompson, along with Thayer Central Community Schools principal Tom Kiburz, coordinated the 2017 event.
