County Board Reorganizes for New Year

Wade Overturf Earns NCTA Scholarship

Wade Overturf, the son of Mark and Charlene Overturf of rural Sutton, has earned the George Wenke Scholarship for his academic efforts while enrolled at the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture and since his transfer from the two-year college into the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

Snow, Cold Snap Hits County

Less than an inch of snow fell throughout Clay County over the weekend, leaving slick roads and hazardous driving conditions. A spokesperson for the National Weather Service in Hastings said one to three inches of snow was expected in Clay County between Tuesday and Wednesday; however, there will be a dry spell until Friday evening, when there is a slight chance of snow.

Fire Leaves Edgar Home Charred Dec. 23

A Dec. 23 fire near the downtown business district in Edgar has left the home of L ee and Elizabeth Ann Sample- Paulus and their children, Mersaidies Dawn Nacke, Xavier and Jacob, without their home. No cause for the fire has been announced. The call came into the Clay County E-911 Dispatch Center around 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 23, with the Edgar V olunteer Fire Department responding to the scene.
