Helen M. Dierberger

Helen M. Dierberger

Helen Marie Dierberger was born on Jan. 20, 1934, in Clay Center to Ralph and Amanda (Nuss) Godtel and passed away on Feb. 11, 2022, in Lincoln, at the age of 88 years and 22 days.

Helen grew up in Clay Center where she attended school and graduated with the Class of 1951. She then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for two years. On Nov. 8, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ted Dwain Dierberger in Clay Center. After their marriage, the couple moved to Seward where Ted worked with his father. Helen was an Avon Representative for 49 years. She was a member of the Seward Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school. She was also a member of the M.E.L.D. Club and Mrs. Jaycees, Junior Women’s Club, Senior Women’s Club, and a life member of Seward V.F.W. Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; brother, Dean Godtel; sister, Doris Shockey; great-granddaughter, Aulana Hulbert.

Fairfield resident Gerald D. “Doodle” Palmer, 92, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2022, at Bryan Medical Center East, Lincoln.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, March 11, at Fairfield Community Church in Fairfield, with Pastor Joyce Dean and Pastor Ivan Dean officiating. Private family burial with military rites by Offutt Air Force Honor Guard will be at the Fairfield Cemetery in Fairfield. Visitation will be 5-6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Livingston-Butler-Volland funeral home in Hastings. Memorials may be given to Fairfield Community Church or Fairfield Cemetery Association. A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2022, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Christopher Kubat and Father Thomas Brouillette officiating. Interment will follow at the Clay Center Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, from noon-4 p.m., at McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center.

Elsie Ochsner

Greeley, CO, resident Elsie Ochsner, 88, passed into glory on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 18, 2022, at the Sutton Cemetery in Sutton, with Rev. Carl Gobelman officiating.

Elsie was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Sutton, where she grew up on her family’s farm. At the age of eight, she was already milking cows and pitching in on a variety of chores from picking melons to canning produce.

She married her husband, Ewald, on Sept. 8, 1956, and spent her life caring for her family, neighbors, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a multitude of flowers and birds. She also worked at Hawthorne Elementa gs, and later worked at Ace Hardwarery School in Hastings, and later worked at Ace Hardware and at the Novaceks clothing store in David City.

Charity Joy Green

Charity Joy Green, 31, of Lincoln passed away Feb. 9, 2022. Charity was born on May 18, 1990, to John R. and Cheryl S. (Ruttman) Green in Hastings.

Charity was a talented professional photographer and artist. She started Charity Joy Photography in 2013. She enjoyed painting, drawing, pottery, musicals, and had a beautiful voice. She knew how to make all things beautiful. Charity grew up in Clay Center and graduated high school at Clay Center High School in 2008. Charity attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and graduated in 2013 with her degree in art. Charity was a member of Grace Chapel and was on the church worship team.

Family members include her husband, Adam Wieberdink; mother, Cheryl Green; brother, Adam (Stephanie) Green; parents-in-law, Darrel and Jan Wieberdink; sisters-in-law, Nikki Wieberdink, and Danielle (Jacob) Van Der Linden; and nephews, Gordon and Henry Van Der Linden.

Charity is preceded in death by her father, John Green.

Rita Ann Dubas, 68, of Fullerton, passed away Saturday, Jan. 29, 2022, at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus.

Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 3, 2022, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton, with Reverend David Fulton and Deacon John Small officiating. Burial followed at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton.

Visitation was 5-7 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary service on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fullerton. Palmer-Santin Funeral Home is serving the family.

Rita was born Jan. 21, 1954 to Edwin and JoAnn (Steenson) Dubas at Palmer. She grew up in rural Nance County near Palmer.

Gayle C. Johnson

Gayle Clayton Johnson was born the only child to Clayton W. Johnson and Edythe R (Swanson) Johnson on March 2, 1935, at Ong. He passed away on Jan. 25, 2022, in Scottsdale, AZ, at the age of 86 years, 10 months, and 23 days.

Gayle graduated high school from Ong. He was always very proud to have been an Ong Red Devil and told many stories of he and his basketball team’s successes. He attended Kearney State College where he achieved his Master’s degree in education. He was a very good athlete and competed for Kearney State in both basketball and track all four years.

On June 26, 1955, Gayle married Barbara Johnson at the Methodist church in Davenport, and to them four children were born.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton, with Rev. Scott Henry officiating. A second funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at Sutton

Memorial Chapel, with the Free German Reformed Salem Church Elders officiating. Interment will follow at the Free German Reformed Salem Church Cemetery near Sutton. Visitation will be Friday, from 1-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton. Visitation will also be Saturday morning prior to the services at the church and Saturday afternoon at the funeral home.
