Sutton resident Russell “Russ” Lee Ebert, 72, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at Hope Reformed Church in Sutton with Pastor Scott Henry officiating. Interment followed at the Sutton Cemetery.

Larry G. Zimbelmann was born July 27, 1951, in Henderson, to Gilbert and Velma (Roemmich) Zimbelmann and passed away Aug. 24, 2023, unexpectedly, at his home in rural Milford at the age of 72 years and 28 days.

William Phillip Walther, Sr., 86, of Glenvil, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023. He was born on Jan. 7, 1937, in Glenvil to Phillip and Fannie (Theesen) Walther. He was a member of the Hastings congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

William devoted himself to bible study, helping those in need, and was a very skilled welder and repairman. As a lifelong farmer, he enjoyed being outdoors and nature, but most of all spending time with his family and grandchildren.

William is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Garland (Leslie), Jacob (Danielle), Felicia (Aaron) Hastings, William Jr. “Wayde” (Emily), 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Phillip and Fannie Walther; daughter, Serena Gibson.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 216 W G St, Hastings.

Glenvil resident Myron T. Petr, 79, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings.

Rosary was prayed at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Hastings, with Father Craig Clinch officiating. Burial took place at Glenvil Cemetery in Glenvil.

Casper, WY resident Judith Ann Foote, 74, passed away Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023, at Casper Mountain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Casper, WY.

Services are pending with McLaughlin Funeral Chapel in Clay Center.

Timothy Keller, age 46, of Mandeville, LA, formerly of Harvard passed away Saturday, Aug. 26, 2023, at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.

A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 2 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Pastor Michelle Reed will officiate. The service will be livestreamed on the church’s website. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday, at the Aurora United Methodist Church, 1104 A St. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora is in charge of arrangements.

Sutton resident James “Jim” LeRoy Mohnike, 71, passed away peacefully Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare in Hastings after a long battle with cancer.

A Celebration of life will be at the Sutton Legion in Sutton, 103 E Forrest St., on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, from 5-7 p.m. The family asks that you join us during that time to celebrate Jim’s life. In honoring his wishes cremation has taken place and there will not be a visitation or viewing.

Memorials are suggested to his sons, Corey and Eric Mohnike.

Sutton resident Dennis “Buck” Arthur Sedersten, 71, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at York General Hospital in York.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2023, at the Federated Church in Sutton, with Pastor Mary Scott officiating. Interment followed at the Saronville United Methodist Cemetery in Saronville.

Dennis was born to Deldon and Jean (Stonehocker) Sedersten April 28, 1952, in rural Clay County on the farm. After his mom’s death, he was raised by his stepmother Marge. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1971. He married Lori Detwiler on Dec. 18, 1982. Buck was employed as an elevator operator for over 40 years in Saronville, Bixby, and Sutton. After retiring from CPI, he began working for Van Kirk Brothers and was still a part time employee with them.

Stephen Peter Hansen, 68, passed away surrounded by his family Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, at the Brodstone Healthcare Hospital in Superior.

A rosary will be prayed at 10 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sutton. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, at the church, with Father Michael Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow at the Ong Cemetery in Ong. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 1-7 p.m., with the family present from 5-7 p.m., at Sutton Memorial Chapel in Sutton.

Sutton resident Donald L. McElfresh, 91, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, at the Sutton Community Home in Sutton.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date. In honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place.
